On November 10 2016, the China Gems & Jewellery Association, in collaboration with China Gem Magazine and the Shenzhen Creative Industry Association, hosted the Gala Award Night of the Jade Jewellery Grand Prix at the Jinyu Sheraton Hotel in Beijing, China. The contest’s main objective is to both promote traditional jade jewellery craftsmanship as well as promoting contemporary design in the Chinese jewellery industry.
“Aqua Fish reflects the Yin and Yang in Chinese Tai Chi culture. The stylized design of the fish, which represents prosperity in Chinese culture, holds the balance between resilience and equitable order. The design aims to combine contemporary design with traditional colours and materials” explains the designer Ms. Wang Nan.
“We are extremely delighted to see that the design “Aqua Fish” by Ms. Wang Nan has been awarded second place in this prestigious competition. Ms. Wang Nan is a recent graduate from HRD Antwerp’s contemporary jewellery design course in Shenzhen, which was taught by acclaimed jewellery design expert Veerle Van Wilder”, says Dr. Katrien De Corte, HRD Antwerp Chief Officer of Education & Industry.
